Faculty Reflections
Faculty Reflections - By Mr. Battaglia
One of the best pieces of advice I received as a young teacher was to drink a cup of coffee before teaching my lessons. The concern was not my sanity but my energy. The quality of ‘dynamism’ or energy within the classroom is prized here at Seven Oaks. While the curriculum we offer in its own right is appetizing and fuels the soul, it is the responsibility of the teacher to make it come alive for the students.
Teaching is not for the faint of heart. Our teachers not only work tirelessly to prepare, plan, organize, and rehearse a lesson behind the scenes, but then they also deliver the lesson in front of students in a compelling way with energy. It is not the kind of theatre that is manufactured or fake. Instead, it genuinely flows from a teacher’s heart which finds the stories, concepts, computations, formulas, and phonetic rules so beautiful, good, and true that to tell them without energy would be woefully inadequate, uninspiring, and a blatant injustice. Our teachers love what they teach, and it shows.
